The Walking Club is a great way to socialize with fellow students and families before school starts, while getting in some pre-classroom exercise. Dailard requires that all families meet at the Walking Club locations prior to school starting, as the campus should be cleared for teachers and staff only until school is in session.
There should not be any students or family members waiting by the classroom doors or in the quad.
Students can start gathering as early at 7:30 a.m. each morning, walking in a loop until the first bell rings. Lower grades gather on the big lot above the teacher’s parking, older grades gather on the top lot by the red playground.
Walking Club Rules
- Upon arrival, students should find their class number on the blacktop and put their backpacks behind it in a straight line.
- Students will then immediately walk the track. To stay safe, no running, yelling or chasing.
- The track is for walking only – no playing on the hopscotch path, painted map, play structure or wall ball wall.
- Line up when the bell rings, standing where your backpack is.
- All are encouraged to walk, including parents and siblings on campus.
- Those eating breakfast at school should still line up with their class.
