THE 2009-10 PLEDGE DRIVE

Yes, you read that right!  In lieu of other fund raisers such as an auction or casino night, we are asking that EVERY FAMILY make a tax-deductible pledge to the Dailard PTF of $1 per school day, or $180 per year.  For MUCH less than the price of your average latte, you can help support your child’s education.

Participation can be at any level – we know some families can afford more that $180, and some less.  All pledges are welcome, and can be paid in one lump sum or monthly.  We will award prizes such as ice cream parties to those classes with 100% family participation (at any level).

Why?

This way, parents can budget their contributions to Dailard and include these contributions in their tax planning.  Also, more working parents mean fewer volunteer hours for school fund raisers.  It takes HUNDREDS of volunteer hours to put together a fund raiser such as a live auction.  While these types of fund raisers are a lot of fun, the trade off between volunteer hours and return simply doesn’t make sense in this economy.  We hope to bring back the auction in 2010-11, but would like to give those volunteers a bit of a rest this year.  (We will hold some type of carnival/festival at some point this year, but as a community event rather than a fund raiser.)

Pledge packets will come home in your child’s back pack next week.  Please consider giving as generously as you can.   Remember, ANY amount is appreciated, and will count towards your child’s classroom participation.
