DAILARD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
PARENT TEACHER FOUNDATION
2009-10 FUND RAISING
The Dailard PTF has worked for years, based on parent input, to eliminate fund raising activities that require our children to sell entertainment books, cookie dough, wrapping paper and the like. For the last few years, we have succeeded. However, ever-deeper budget cuts have all but eliminated any reserves we once had, and we now are faced with stepping up our fund raising efforts. At the same time, many parents are taking their own financial hits, and many more are re-entering the job market. With this in mind, your PTF Board has decided on the following fund raising efforts for this year.
Jog-A-Thon: Our annual Jog-A-Thon is consistently our biggest and best fundraiser. It has the added advantage that it is A LOT of FUN! The children work all year to get in shape so they can run the most laps.
Pizza Wednesday: We have had great success with Pizza Wednesday, both in terms of fund raising and community spirit. Many parents come to have lunch with their children. With the new Wednesday schedule, however, we are concerned about the future of Pizza Wednesday. We are therefore going to “test the waters” for a few Wednesdays before making a firm decision for the year.
Passive Fundraising: This year, we hope to sponsor a monthly passive fundraiser, such as “Rubio’s Night” and “Barnes and Noble Night” where stores and restaurants donate a percentage of their sales on a given evening to the PTF. Watch your child’s backpack for details, or contact Holly Keehn at keehn@cox.net if you can volunteer to oversee one month’s activity.
But these fund raisers alone will not allow us to continue the level of support we have been providing to the school. So . . . .we are introducing the Dailard Pledge.
